Mike Baxter (played by Tim Allen) is a manly man who works at an outdoor sporting goods store and is the last male standing in a household full of women. In this episode titled "Extrasensory Deception," Mike's daughter, Mandy (played by Molly McCook), tries to convince her family that she has developed a psychic ability.
Mandy's newfound belief in extrasensory perception is triggered by a recent encounter she had with a psychic at a bachelorette party she attended. The psychic told Mandy that she had a gift and could see things that others couldn't. Mandy becomes increasingly convinced of her abilities when she "predicts" that her sister, Eve (played by Kaitlyn Dever), is going to get a promotion at work.
Mike and his wife, Vanessa (played by Nancy Travis), are skeptical of Mandy's claims, but they play along to humor her. However, things take a turn when Mandy "predicts" that Mike's favorite sports team is going to win the championship game. This excites Mike, and he starts to believe in Mandy's abilities.
As Mandy's predictions continue to come true, Mike starts to take her seriously and even turns to her for advice on some important business decisions. However, things come to a head when Mandy predicts something that doesn't come true, and Mike's trust in her abilities is shattered. It becomes clear that Mandy's gift may not be as real as she thought it was, and Mike and his family must confront the truth about their daughter's claims.
"Extrasensory Deception" is a comedic take on the idea of psychic abilities and the power of suggestion. The episode explores themes of family dynamics, trust, and the desire to believe in something beyond what we can see and know. As always, the show blends witty humor with heartfelt moments, making it a must-watch for fans of the series.
