Mike Baxter (played by Tim Allen) is a man's man who works as the marketing director for an outdoor sporting goods store. He's also a husband and father of three daughters. In season 2 episode 6 "Circle of Life," Mike's eldest daughter Kristin (played by Alexandra Krosney) announces that she is pregnant.
This news comes as a shock to Mike, who is struggling to come to terms with the fact that his little girl is all grown up. He's also worried about how Kristin and her boyfriend Ryan (played by Nick Jonas) will fare as young, unmarried parents. In typical Mike fashion, he attempts to solve all of their problems for them, but he quickly realizes that he needs to step back and let Kristin make her own decisions.
Meanwhile, Mike's other daughter Mandy (played by Molly Ephraim) is dealing with her own set of problems. She's taking a class on death and dying in school, and it's making her super paranoid about dying. She keeps asking her dad morbid questions like "What's going to happen to me after I die?" and "Do you think I'll die young like James Dean?" Mike, of course, has a tough time dealing with her neuroses, but he eventually comes up with a creative way to help her deal with her fears.
The episode also sees the return of Mike's father Bud (played by Robert Forster), who has just gotten out of prison. Bud has always been a source of tension in Mike's life, and his arrival in town only makes things worse. But with all of the family drama going on, Mike realizes that he needs to make amends with his dad and try to move forward.
Overall, "Circle of Life" is a heartwarming episode that deals with the ups and downs of family life. It shows that no matter how old we get, we'll always need our loved ones by our side. The episode is well-written and funny, with plenty of witty one-liners from Tim Allen. It's definitely a must-watch for fans of Last Man Standing.
