Set in the fictional Montecito Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, the third season of Las Vegas follows the lives of the employees who work there. In season 3, the series continues to delve into the intriguing and complex world of casinos and gambling, as the various characters navigate their personal and professional lives in the luxe resort.
In the seventh episode of season 3, titled "Everything Old Is You Again", we see the Montecito Resort and Casino transformed into a 1950s-style hotel and casino. The reason for this temporary transformation is to celebrate the marriage of a billionaire older gentleman to a much younger woman. The happy couple are both major fans of the 1950s era, and have requested that the Montecito be transformed into a replica of the iconic Vegas of that era for their big day.
As the Montecito staff struggles to accommodate the demands of the couple, everyone is required to dress up and don 50s-style attire to keep in keeping with the festivities. The majority of the staff, under the guidance of Samantha Jane Marquez (Vanessa Marcil), have successfully transformed the casino floor, but the kitchen staff is struggling to make diner-style food demanded by the couple and the guests.
Meanwhile, Delinda Deline (Molly Sims) is trying to organize a surprise for her father, Ed Deline (James Caan). Delinda has discovered that her father's old flame, Jillian (Cheryl Ladd), is in town and has been secretly calling him. She convinces Jillian to meet her father in the 1950s-themed bar to surprise him, but things don't go quite as planned.
Elsewhere in the Montecito, Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel) and Mike Cannon (James Lesure) have their hands full as they deal with high-stakes gamblers. Danny, who is trying to prove to his girlfriend Mary Connell's (Nikki Cox) father that he's a responsible, upstanding citizen, tries to help a young woman who is losing a large sum of money at the craps table. Mike, on the other hand, is trying to deal with a notorious gambler who has a history of cheating and is back at the Montecito.
As the 1950s wedding reception gets underway, everything seems to be going according to plan. The band, dressed in traditional 50s garb, starts playing songs from the era, and the guests are enjoying the ambiance of the transformed Montecito. However, things suddenly take a turn for the worse when one of the guests collapses on the dance floor, apparently poisoned.
With the Montecito on high alert, everyone is trying to figure out what happened and trying to prevent any more deaths. Danny and Mike have to track down the source of the poison and safely dispose of it before anyone else is affected. Meanwhile, Delinda has to deal with the chaos and heartbreak that comes with reopening old wounds, as Ed and Jillian confront what went wrong in their past relationship.
"Everything Old Is You Again" is a great episode of Las Vegas that combines the typical excitement and drama of the series with the extra flair of a 1950s-themed party. It's a perfect example of how the Montecito's staff has to deal with unexpected situations on a regular basis, even when it comes to weddings and events that are meant to be joyous occasions.
