In the season 2 premiere of Las Vegas, entitled "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?", the Montecito Hotel and Casino faces a crisis when a major thunderstorm hits the Las Vegas Strip. The episode follows a number of storylines as the employees of the Montecito navigate the chaos of the storm.
First and foremost is the story of hotel owner Ed Deline (played by James Caan) and his attempts to keep the casino running smoothly despite the weather. In particular, Ed is worried about a new experimental slot machine that the casino has just started using, which he fears will malfunction during the storm. Meanwhile, Ed's daughter Delinda (played by Molly Sims) is dealing with her own problems when she runs into an ex-boyfriend who has come to town for a job interview.
Another major storyline in the episode involves Danny McCoy (played by Josh Duhamel), the head of security at the Montecito. Danny is the primary focus of the episode, as he deals with a number of crises both personal and professional. Early in the episode, Danny is reeling from a recent breakup, which is complicated when his ex-girlfriend shows up at the casino with a new boyfriend in tow. Later, Danny is called upon to deal with a group of high-stakes gamblers who are threatening to leave the casino due to the storm.
Meanwhile, another employee of the Montecito, Sam Marquez (played by Vanessa Marcil), is dealing with her own family drama. Her brother is in town, and it quickly becomes clear that he is up to no good. Sam is torn between her loyalty to her brother and her responsibilities to the casino, which include dealing with a group of high rollers who are threatening to leave due to the storm.
Throughout the episode, the storm rages on, wreaking havoc on the city and putting the Montecito at risk. As the employees of the casino work tirelessly to keep things running smoothly, tensions rise and secrets are revealed. With its nonstop action and unpredictable plot twists, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" sets the stage for what promises to be a thrilling second season of Las Vegas.
