It's Mister Saxophone's birthday and the band is having a lovely birthday lunch at the park. Mister Saxophone's Uncle Woodrow joins them and plays the clarinet as a treat but some of the notes he plays squeak. Uncle Woodrow is disappointed and the band try to help by offering some musical tips that Richard showed them on his clarinet on the way there on the bus.

On the bus they meet Carlos who plays them a soothing melody on his panpipes.

Lola the double bass is not feeling very happy. Buzz is concerned because Lola feels like the odd one out, she doesn't look or sound like any other members of the band. They head off to the double bass shop and on the bus they meet the Stringalings who are part of the string family.

Along the way to the lesson they meet Carlos who plays the guiro and they all learn the samba beat. Playing the samba fast and slow might help Lah-Lah finally learn her new dance!
