Ep 5. Episode 5
The episode 5 of La Casa de Papel starts off with the Professor encountering a major problem – one of the hostages has managed to call the police. The group immediately goes into panic mode, knowing that this could completely ruin their plan. The Professor has to act quickly to think of a solution. Meanwhile, we are shown a flashback of one of the members of the gang, Berlin, as he discusses his past and his relationship with his father.
As the tension in the bank increases, the robbers decide to start negotiating with the police. They request that they are given food, water, and medical supplies. The police begrudgingly agree, but they're reluctant to make things easier for the thieves. They set up traps and try their best to stall the robbers' advance.
One of the robbers, Rio, takes the opportunity to escape through the roof. He runs across the rooftops, dodging police gunfire and narrowly avoiding being caught. Rio's escape is a tense and exciting sequence, showcasing the cat-and-mouse game that the robbers and police are playing.
Back in the bank, tensions start to rise as the hostages become increasingly agitated. One of them, Alison, takes her frustration out on one of the robbers, Berlin, and they have a heated argument. The situation calms down when Nairobi intervenes and reminds everyone of the gravity of the situation they're in.
The police make it clear that they will not negotiate with the gang, but the robbers are undeterred. They continue to plan their next steps and create a new strategy. Meanwhile, viewers are privy to more flashbacks that reveal the relationships between the different members of the group.
As the day wears on, the robbers prepare themselves for another night of intense negotiation and suffering. They try to keep their spirits up through songs and games, but the situation is becoming increasingly dire. The police are becoming more and more aggressive, and the hostages are starting to reveal cracks in their mental states.
Despite all this, the episode ends on a high note, with a surprise twist that none of the robbers or the hostages could have anticipated. It's a cliffhanger that leaves the audience on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next episode.
