Kurokami: The Animation is an anime TV series produced by Bandai and directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi. The story takes place in a world where there are beings called "doppeliners", who are born in pairs and have a unique connection with each other. The show follows the story of a high school student named Keita Ibuki, who is dragged into the world of the doppeliners after encountering a girl named Kuro. Kuro is a powerful "twin doppeliners" who has the ability to absorb the life force of other doppeliners and control probability. She is on a mission to find her other half and restore the balance of the world.
Throughout the course of the series, Keita and Kuro get caught up in a series of battles against other powerful doppeliners who try to take advantage of her abilities. Along the way, they meet allies and enemies, including the mysterious "Master of the Yin-Yang", who seems to have his own agenda.
The main cast of the show includes some notable voice actors, such as Daisuke Namikawa as Keita Ibuki, Noriko Shitaya as Kuro, Satoshi Hino as Steiner, Katsuyuki Konishi as Yakumo and Jouji Nakata as Reishin.
The animation and visual effects in the show are impressive, and the fight scenes are well choreographed with plenty of intense action. The use of CGI in the show is also quite impressive, especially in the scenes involving Kuro's powers.
One of the main themes of the show is the importance of human connections and the idea that no one can achieve greatness alone. Kuro, for example, spends much of the series searching for her missing other half, and Keita becomes her partner and ally on this mission.
Another interesting aspect of the show is the concept of "essences", which are the life force of the doppeliners. The idea is that when two doppeliners are born, they are given a finite amount of essence to share between them. If one doppeliners dies, their essence is absorbed by the surviving doppeliners, granting them more power but also potentially throwing the balance of the world out of whack.
Overall, Kurokami: The Animation is an interesting and action-packed anime that explores some unique concepts related to the dual nature of humans and the importance of human connections. With a talented cast of voice actors and impressive animation, it's definitely worth checking out for fans of the genre.
