Kurau: Phantom Memory season 1 episode 6, titled "Shining Rain," follows the ongoing story of Kurau and Christmas. The episode begins with Christmas having a vivid dream about her father getting killed while she was young. She wakes up in a panic, but then finds peace when Kurau comforts her. The two decide to take Christmas's mind off of the dream by going out for a walk in the rain.
They come across a construction site where they witness a group of construction workers struggling to bring down a tree. As Kurau watches, she manages to manifest her Rynax powers and the tree falls over effortlessly. Suddenly, the workers begin to attack Kurau, revealing that they are actually illegal immigrants who have been hired to perform dangerous tasks for low pay.
Kurau and Christmas manage to escape the scene and travel to the headquarters of Global Alliance Energy, the company responsible for hiring these illegal immigrants. Once there, they speak to the CEO, Dr. Amami, and confront him about the immorality of his business tactics.
To their surprise, Dr. Amami actually admits to the wrongdoings of his company and tells Kurau and Christmas that he never intended for things to turn out this way. He had become so obsessed with his work that he lost sight of his original intentions and ended up causing harm to innocent people.
In an effort to make amends, Dr. Amami gives Kurau and Christmas a tour of his secret research facility, where they discover a room full of Rynax test subjects. Kurau, having been a victim of Rynax experimentation herself, is shocked and disgusted by what she sees.
The episode ends with Kurau and Christmas returning to their hotel and reflecting on the events of the day. Kurau realizes that her powers could be used for both good and evil, and that it is up to her to choose how she will use them. Meanwhile, Christmas comes to terms with the trauma of her past and begins to move forward with a newfound sense of strength and resilience.
Overall, "Shining Rain" offers a more introspective episode of Kurau: Phantom Memory, exploring the moral complexity of power and responsibility. The plot is delivered through dynamic animation and an engaging storyline, with plenty of action and suspense to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
