Ep 3. Crane on a Wire
- April 17, 2012
Po and the Furious Five return in the second season of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and in this episode, titled "Crane on a Wire," Crane finds himself struggling with his own self-confidence. As the tallest member of the Furious Five, Crane is usually quite comfortable with heights, but when he has to navigate a thin wire over a deep ravine on a mission, he starts to falter.
The episode begins with Po playfully trying to teach Crane a kung fu move he's been working on, but Crane is too preoccupied with the upcoming mission to focus. Tigress and Mantis arrive, and Master Shifu reveals that the Furious Five have been tasked with retrieving a valuable scroll from a remote mountain temple. The scroll is said to contain the secret to a new kung fu technique, and the Emperor has demanded that it be secured as soon as possible.
As the team begins their journey, Crane tries to put on a brave face, but it's clear that he's struggling. He buys a new pair of boots to help him feel more secure on the wire, but they end up weighing him down and causing him to stumble even more. The rest of the Furious Five, along with Po, try to reassure him and offer encouragement, but nothing seems to help.
As they near the temple, they discover that it's been overrun by a group of bandits who are also after the scroll. The Furious Five spring into action, and Po shows off some of his impressive kung fu moves as they fight off the intruders. Crane tries to contribute, but his nerves get the better of him, and he ends up getting himself in trouble.
Despite his earlier misgivings, Crane ends up being the key to retrieving the scroll. In a moment of bravery, he takes a leap of faith and manages to grab hold of the scroll just as it's falling over the edge of the ravine. He also manages to defeat the last of the bandits on his own, solidifying his confidence in himself and his abilities.
The episode ends with the Furious Five returning to the Jade Palace, where Crane proudly shows off his new boots and the scroll they retrieved. Po congratulates him on his bravery and encourages him to keep pushing himself to new heights (both figuratively and literally). Crane seems to have regained his confidence, and the team is stronger than ever as they face their next challenge.
Overall, "Crane on a Wire" is a fun and action-packed episode of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, with plenty of humor and heart to balance out the more intense moments. Fans of the show will enjoy watching their favorite characters in action, and newcomers will find plenty to love as well. The theme of overcoming self-doubt is a relatable one, and it's great to see Crane emerge as a hero in his own right.
