Hank is feeling frustrated as he is unable to obtain a coveted promotion at Strickland Propane. However, he sees a glimmer of hope when he learns that his boss, Buck Strickland, is in need of a private pilot. Hank eagerly applies for the job, but learns that Buck is only interested in hiring a licensed pilot. Hank's hope is reignited when he discovers that Dale has been secretly taking flying lessons and has earned his pilot's license.
Meanwhile, Peggy is struggling with her self-image and feeling insecure about her appearance. Her frustration crescendos when she is unable to zip up a dress for an upcoming event. Peggy decides to take drastic measures and signs up for a rigorous exercise program to get in shape.
As Hank and Dale take to the skies, Peggy is determined to conquer the intense physical challenges of her exercise regimen. However, both Hank and Peggy soon come to the realization that their pursuits may not be as fulfilling as they had hoped. Hank struggles with the monotony of his flight routes, while Peggy becomes obsessed with her appearance and the approval of others.
Their individual conflicts reach a boiling point when they both attend a party hosted by Buck. Hank is mortified when he realizes that he is wearing what he believes to be the same outfit as another party guest, while Peggy is humiliated when a fellow partygoer mistakes her for being pregnant due to her swollen abdomen from her grueling workouts.
As the night wears on, Hank and Peggy come to a mutual understanding and realize the importance of embracing their true selves and being content with who they are. Hank ultimately decides to turn down the pilot job and focus on finding fulfillment in his current position at Strickland Propane, while Peggy learns to love herself for who she is and not just her physical appearance.
Overall, "Wings of the Dope" serves as a reminder to viewers about the dangers of comparing oneself to others and the importance of finding fulfillment and contentment within oneself.
