- 3 min
In season 3, episode 19 of Kids' Bible Stories, titled "People's Promise To Joshua," we follow the story of Joshua, who is chosen by God to lead the Israelites into the promised land. After the death of Moses, Joshua is appointed as the new leader of the Israelites, and his first task is to lead them across the Jordan River into Canaan.
While the Israelites are camped near the Jordan River, Joshua sends two spies to explore the land of Canaan. The spies are welcomed by a woman named Rahab, who helps them escape from the city's guards. Rahab tells the spies that the people of Canaan are afraid of the Israelites because they know that God is on their side.
After the spies return and give their report, Joshua leads the Israelites across the Jordan River with the Ark of the Covenant. As soon as they cross over, God causes the river to flow back to its original position, cutting off the pursuing army of the Canaanites.
Joshua then sets up camp at Gilgal, and the Israelites renew their covenant with God. God tells Joshua that he has given him the land of Canaan, and that he must be strong and courageous in order to conquer it. Joshua sends another group of spies into the city of Jericho, where they are helped by a woman named Rahab once again.
The Israelite army marches around the walls of Jericho for six days, and on the seventh day, they march around the city seven times. Then, they blow their trumpets, the walls of Jericho come crashing down, and the Israelites conquer the city.
As they continue to conquer the land of Canaan, the Israelites face several challenges, including a battle with the five kings of the Amorites. God helps Joshua and the Israelites to defeat their enemies, and the land is divided among the twelve tribes of Israel.
Throughout the episode, viewers will learn about Joshua's faithfulness and courage in leading the Israelites into the promised land, and how God helped them to conquer their enemies and take possession of the land. They will also see the importance of renewing their covenant with God, and how he rewards those who trust in him and remain faithful to his word.
