In episode 14 of season 1 of Kickin' It, titled "Badge of Honor," the Bobby Wasabi dojo gets a new student named Eddie, who is trying to turn his life around after getting in trouble with the law. Eddie is initially reluctant to join the dojo, but after he sees how dedicated the other students are, he decides to give it a chance.
Meanwhile, Rudy is excited to receive a prestigious martial arts award, the "Badge of Honor," but when he learns that he needs to write an essay explaining how he embodies the principles of martial arts, he starts to panic. He enlists the help of the students, but they're all too busy preparing for a tournament to help him.
When Eddie sees that Rudy is struggling, he offers to help him with his essay, using his own experiences of learning the value of discipline and hard work to turn his life around. Rudy is inspired by Eddie's story and realizes that he has been taking his martial arts training for granted.
As the tournament approaches, the students are determined to win, but when they realize that they're not as prepared as they thought, they start to panic. But with Eddie's help, they come up with a new strategy and are able to pull off a win.
In the end, Rudy is awarded the Badge of Honor, thanks to Eddie's help. The episode ends with Eddie deciding to join the dojo full-time, grateful for the sense of purpose and community he has found there.
