Kath & Kim is an Australian television comedy series that follows the lives of a dysfunctional mother-daughter duo, Kath and Kim, and their friends and family members. The show, which aired from 2002 to 2007 on the Seven Network, features a star-studded cast including Jane Turner, Gina Riley, Magda Szubanski, Peter Rowsthorn, and Glenn Robbins.

The series is set in the outer suburban area of Melbourne, where Kath works as a department store employee, and Kim is a lazy, spoiled daughter who is always trying to find new ways to get rich quick. Kath is a devoted mother who tries to be the best role model for her daughter, but her efforts often backfire. Kim, on the other hand, is vain and self-absorbed, and constantly seeking attention from her mother and friends.

The show focuses on the everyday struggles and misadventures of Kath and Kim, such as Kim's attempts to land a rich husband, Kath's uneasy relationship with her second husband, and their frequent misunderstandings and communication breakdowns. The show also features the comic misadventures of their friends and family members, including Sharon Strezlecki, a lovable but somewhat clumsy friend of Kim's, and Brett Craig, Kath's ex-husband and a hapless real estate agent.

Kath & Kim is known for its witty and irreverent humor, which is a mix of satire, sarcasm, and slapstick comedy. The show's creators, Jane Turner and Gina Riley, are skilled at poking fun at Australian suburban life, with its obsession with consumerism, materialism, and the pursuit of fame and fortune. The show also makes clever use of catchphrases and clichés, such as Kim's signature phrase "Look at me, look at me!", which has become part of Australian pop culture.

One of the most popular characters in the show is Sharon Strezlecki, played by Magda Szubanski. Sharon is a kind-hearted but accident-prone friend of Kim's, who is always eager to please but often ends up causing chaos. Sharon is known for her distinctive fashion sense, which includes a variety of colorful tracksuits, and her love of sports, particularly netball.

Another beloved character in the show is Brett Craig, played by Peter Rowsthorn. Brett is Kath's inept ex-husband, who is often the target of Kim's sarcastic humor. Brett is a real estate agent who is constantly trying to make a sale, but rarely succeeds. He is often seen wearing loud clothing and has a distinctive mullet hairstyle.

Kelvin "Kel" Knight, played by Glenn Robbins, is another character who is a recurring figure in the show. Kel is Kath's second husband and the owner of a butcher shop. He is a kind-hearted man but often misunderstood by Kim and the others. Kel is known for his odd habits, such as his obsession with home improvement and his tendency to refer to Kath as "darling".

Overall, Kath & Kim is a beloved comedy series that has become a classic of Australian television. Its distinctive humor, sharp writing, and colorful characters have made it a favorite of audiences both in Australia and around the world. The show's legacy continues to live on, with its catchphrases and characters still loved and remembered by fans.
