Kaiba is a science fiction anime series that aired on WOWOW channel in 2008. The series was created by Masaaki Yuasa, who directed and wrote the story. The anime is set in a futuristic world that is dominated by the digital realm, where memories can be digitized and stored in a device called a memory chip.

The main protagonist, Kaiba, wakes up with amnesia and finds himself in a world where memories can be traded, stolen or erased. Kaiba has no memories of his own, but with the help of a talking computer, he embarks on a journey to recover his lost memories.

Throughout the series, Kaiba discovers the corruption and evil that exist in the world he inhabits. He meets a diverse cast of characters on his journey, including various robotic creatures, humans, and aliens. Some of these characters help him along the way, while others try to stop him from achieving his goals.

The series explores themes such as personal identity, memory, and the impact of technology on society. The show presents a unique take on these themes, using a blend of surrealist imagery and stunning animation to create a mesmerizing atmosphere.

Kaiba's voice is provided by Houko Kuwashima, who delivers a convincing performance as a man with no memory. Mamiko Noto plays the love interest of Kaiba, a girl named Neiro who is part of a group of rebels who aim to overthrow the corrupt organization ruling the world. Romi Paku provides the voice for Popo, a robotic creature who accompanies Kaiba on his journey.

Hisao Egawa voices the villainous character, Warp, who is determined to stop Kaiba from recovering his memories. Other supporting characters are voiced by Wasabi Mizuta, Kokoka Shuzen, and Aiko Hibi. All of these voice actors do an excellent job of bringing their characters to life, giving each of them a distinct personality and contributing to the overall immersive experience of the show.

The animation style of Kaiba is unique, and it stands out from other anime series. The show uses a mix of 2D and 3D animation to create an otherworldly aesthetic that complements the surreal storytelling. The character designs are also imaginative and memorable, with each character having their own unique appearance and personality.

In terms of music, Kaiba boasts a mesmerizing soundtrack composed by Yoshihiro Ike. The show's opening and ending themes are also well-done and complement the tone and themes of the series.

Overall, Kaiba is a captivating and thought-provoking anime that defies conventions and delivers a unique storytelling experience. The series successfully explores complex themes while still offering engaging characters and visually stunning animations. Fans of science fiction, surrealist storytelling, and imaginative animation will find a lot to appreciate in Kaiba.
