K-9 is an Australian science-fiction-adventure television series that aired from 2009 to 2010. The show is a spin-off of Doctor Who and revolves around the adventures of the robot dog K-9 Mark III, previously owned by the Doctor and his former companion Sarah Jane Smith.

The show follows the exploits of a group of teenagers, Starkey (played by Keegan Joyce), Jorjie Turner (played by Philippa Coulthard), and Darius Pike (played by Daniel Webber), and their talking and high-tech best friend K-9 Mark III (voiced by John Leeson), as they fight intergalactic evil across the universe on behalf of the Department of Alien Defence.

The group is led by Dr. Gryffen (played by Robert Moloney), a scientist who has discovered and repaired the damaged K-9 Mark III after he had been abandoned by the Doctor. He also creates a dimensional tunnel in his laboratory, which allows the team to travel to various parts of time and space. These tools become essential as they fight a variety of aliens and protect Earth from harm.

Maia Mitchell gives voice to the character of Jorjie's sentient, telepathic alien pet, being another cool and futuristic gadget adding the perfect fuel for the show. Jorjie's Gollywog pet is one of the most intriguing characters of the show because it has psychic powers and can talk telepathically.

Each episode of K-9 features different villains, including the ruthless Hargreaves (played by Connor Van Vuuren), whose purpose is to steal the technology behind K-9 and use it for sinister purposes. The team must leverage their unique abilities and the assistance of their trusty pet to outsmart these villains continuously.

K-9 is a show filled with exciting adventures, humor, and action. There are plenty of science-fiction elements, making it an excellent choice for fans of the genre or anyone who loves shows that are a mix of futuristic technology and good triumphing over evil.

Another strong point of the show is the dynamic between the characters. The team, led by the stoic Dr. Gryffen, may not have always got along, but their loyalty to each other never wavers. Despite their differences and individual short-comings, they always work together to save the day.

Overall, K-9 provides a fun, entertaining, and action-packed experience, with plenty of humor and memorable characters woven throughout every episode. It also gives fans of the Doctor Who universe a new perspective on the familiar K-9 companion of the main character. If you are looking for a science-fiction adventure with a touch of humor, K-9 is an excellent show to check out.

K-9 is a series that ran for 1 seasons (26 episodes) between October 31, 2009 and on Screen Australia
