In Justified season 5 episode 3, titled "Good Intentions," Raylan Givens (played by Timothy Olyphant) continues to pursue Darryl Crowe Jr. (played by Michael Rapaport) as he seeks to bring him to justice for various crimes. Meanwhile, Boyd Crowder (played by Walton Goggins) deals with the aftermath of a recent tragedy and tries to figure out his next move in the criminal underworld.
The episode opens with Raylan meeting with Art Mullen (played by Nick Searcy) and discussing the case against Darryl. Raylan is frustrated that they haven't been able to catch him yet, but Art reminds him to keep his cool and not do anything rash. They agree that they need to find a way to get to Darryl's sister Wendy (played by Alicia Witt), who has been working with the law to bring down her brother.
Boyd, on the other hand, is dealing with the fallout from the explosion at his drug lab. He meets with his crew and tells them they need to find a new supplier for their product. He also has a tense conversation with his cousin Johnny (played by David Meunier), who he suspects may have been involved in the explosion. Johnny denies any involvement, but Boyd is skeptical.
Meanwhile, Raylan meets with Wendy and tries to convince her to turn on her brother. She is hesitant at first, but eventually agrees to help them if they can guarantee her safety and protection. Raylan is pleased with the progress they've made, but knows that they still have a long way to go before they can take down Darryl.
Boyd makes a deal with a new supplier, but quickly realizes that they are not as trustworthy as he thought. He and his crew are ambushed by the new supplier's men, and Boyd is forced to fight for his life. He manages to escape, but is badly injured in the process.
Back at the office, Raylan receives a visit from his ex-wife Winona (played by Natalie Zea), who has come to town with their daughter. They catch up briefly, but Raylan is distracted by the ongoing case against Darryl. He tells Winona to be careful and stay out of harm's way, but she brushes him off and insists that she can take care of herself.
As the episode comes to a close, Raylan and Art put their plan into action to take down Darryl. They set up a sting operation and manage to catch him in the act of committing a crime. With Wendy's help, they are able to build a strong case against him and finally bring him to justice.
Overall, "Good Intentions" is a tense and action-packed episode of Justified that sees the main characters facing new challenges and overcoming old obstacles. The writing is sharp and the performances are strong, making it a must-watch for fans of the show.
