In Justified season 4 episode 1, titled "Hole in the Wall," we find Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (played by Timothy Olyphant) back in Harlan County, Kentucky. After being sent away for his actions in the last season, Raylan is now working in a different district, but he is soon called back to Harlan to investigate a strange case.
The episode begins with a group of robbers breaking into a house to steal what they believe to be a large amount of money. However, when they open the safe, they find it empty except for a bag of human kidneys. This leads them to conclude that the true owners of the money have been kidnapped and their organs are being harvested for the black market.
Meanwhile, Raylan is dealing with a different case involving a man named Roland Pike. Roland is a former friend and comrade of his father, Arlo Givens, who is currently in prison. Roland has come to Harlan to find Arlo's old safe, which supposedly contains a large amount of cash. Raylan is suspicious of Roland's true motives, so he follows him to a local bar where he meets a man named Drew Thompson.
Drew Thompson is a local legend in Harlan. He was involved in a drug trafficking operation years ago but disappeared without a trace. It is believed that he stole a large amount of money before he vanished and that he has been living a quiet life ever since. However, because of the recent kidney thefts, it is believed that Drew may be involved in the black market organ trade as well.
Raylan begins to investigate Drew and learns that he may be living in a house that is connected to a local church. When he arrives at the church, he finds that the house has been abandoned for years and is in a state of disrepair. However, as he investigates further, he discovers a "hole in the wall" that leads to a hidden room.
Inside the hidden room, Raylan finds evidence that suggests Drew Thompson has been living there recently. However, before he can investigate further, he is interrupted by a group of armed men who are also searching for Drew. Raylan is able to escape and calls for backup, but when they arrive, the men are gone and the evidence of Drew's presence in the house has been destroyed.
As the episode comes to a close, we see that Raylan's investigation has led him down a dangerous road. The kidney thieves are still on the loose, and now he has become a target of the men who are searching for Drew Thompson. It is clear that this season of Justified will be filled with action, suspense, and unexpected twists.
