Ep 8. Selfie Help
- June 29, 2017
In the Justice League Action season 2 episode 8, entitled Selfie Help, the team faces a unique challenge as the famous photographer David Graves makes a sinister debut in the city. Graves has got his hands on a powerful camera that can take photos of people's souls, and the one who gets their picture taken by it, is promptly transported to the world of the dead.
The episode starts with Batman intercepting an emergency call about Graves' activities and assembling a team to investigate. The time is of the essence as graves is already on the move, capturing souls and sending them to the world beyond. The league consists of Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Booster Gold, and they waste no time in getting to work.
The team knows they have their work cut out for them, as the camera can only be destroyed from within the world of the dead. The heroes need someone to get a picture of themselves taken by the camera to enter the world of the dead, and luckily Booster Gold steps up to the task. Booster Gold is a great choice because of his ability to manipulate his own body energy levels, allowing him to navigate the world of the dead without being pulled into oblivion.
Once in the world of the dead, Booster finds himself in a perilous position, with Graves' minions closing in on him at every turn. It is up to the rest of the team to distract the minions and help Booster reach Graves and the camera. To do so, they have to devise a plan that utilizes their strengths. For instance, Wonder Woman uses her lasso of truth to disarm the minions, while Superman uses his strength to punch his way through any obstacles.
As the team's plan unfolds, they find themselves in grave danger, as Graves also has an army of skeleton warriors who are very hard to defeat. The Justice League comes up against these armies and uses their unique abilities to take down the skeletons with the speed and skill that only this team can exhibit. And not to forget, the Flash manages to tap into the speed force to avoid getting engulfed in the chaos.
The tension builds up as Booster gets closer to the camera and sets up the right angle to get his picture taken. Graves seems to be one step ahead. Each time, he outwits Booster's moves and gives him a run for his money. At this point, the team's efforts finally pay off, as Cyborg hacks into the camera's mainframe and gives Booster the upper hand he needs to take his picture and finally transport it to the world of the dead.
With the camera now finally in Booster's possession, he gets a chance to have some fun with it by getting a soul picture of Graves, which backfires when Graves is transported to the world of the dead. To change the course of events within the world, Booster uses his expertise and saves the people, while the rest of the team help him fend off the remaining enemies.
With the world of the dead now safe, and Graves no longer a threat, the Justice League team makes their way back to the real world where they are recognized for their dedication and bravery. The team has once again saved the city from the brink of destruction, and although it came with its share of challenges, they proved yet again that there was literally nothing they could not handle with their exceptional powers and collective strength as a team.
