Ep 6. Just Add Birthdays

Just Add Magic is a live-action television series that follows three best friends who discover a magical cookbook that allows them to make different potions and dishes with supernatural abilities. In season one, the girls use the cookbook to uncover the mystery of their town and help their families and friends.

Season one, episode six is titled "Just Add Birthdays." The episode follows the three main characters, Kelly, Darbie, and Hannah, as they plan a surprise birthday party for Kelly's grandma. Kelly's grandma, Gina, is turning 75, and Kelly wants to throw her the perfect party to show how much she loves her. However, they soon discover that there is something wrong with Gina's memories, and they must use the magical cookbook to fix the problem.

At the beginning of the episode, Kelly is frustrated because she cannot decide on the perfect present for her grandma's birthday. She wants to make it special because Gina has always been there for her, but every idea she has falls short. Meanwhile, Darbie and Hannah are practicing magic spells from the cookbook to prepare for a talent show.

As they practice, they notice that Hannah's magic spell to change her hair color leads to unpredictable results. Darbie suggests that they test the spell on a small patch of grass, and when they do, the grass grows wild and uncontrollable. They realize that they need to be more careful with their magic and decide to stop for the day.

The next day, Kelly's grandma shows up at the girls' house, confused and disoriented. She cannot remember what day it is or where she should be. The girls suspect something is wrong and decide to investigate. They use the cookbook to make a memory-probing cake that will help them figure out what is going on with Gina's memory.

When they give the cake to Gina, they discover that she has been affected by an old spell from the cookbook. The spell causes memories to blur together, making it impossible to tell the difference between past and present experiences. The girls realize that they must use magic to reverse the spell before it gets worse.

They find the recipe for the reverse spell in the cookbook, but the ingredient list is incomplete. To complete the recipe, they need to get a rare plant that grows on a mountain outside of town. The girls decide to split up and gather the ingredients they need for the spell.

Hannah and Darbie go to the mountain to find the rare plant, while Kelly stays at home to keep an eye on Gina. However, things get complicated when Kelly's parents arrive and tell her that they have planned a surprise party for Gina later that day. The girls are worried that the party could make Gina's memory situation worse, so they try to make sure that the party remains low-key.

Meanwhile, Hannah and Darbie find the rare plant but encounter a complication when they discover that they need to climb a steep cliff to get it. With the help of a magical item from the cookbook, they climb the cliff and successfully gather the plant. They rush back to Kelly's house to mix the ingredients and complete the reverse spell.

As Kelly begins to bake the spell into a cake, she realizes that the party has already started and that Gina is there. She becomes frantic, afraid that the party could cause more harm to Gina's memories. The girls work together to use their magic to create a distraction and keep Gina away from the party.

When the cake is ready, the girls bring it to Gina, and she begins to eat it. Suddenly, memories start to flood back to her, and she remembers everything clearly. She is overjoyed, and the girls explain everything that happened. Gina thanks them for their help and tells them that the party was perfect.

The episode ends with the girls feeling relieved and happy that they were able to help Kelly's grandma. They learn the value of using magic responsibly and the importance of being careful when doing so.
