Jung-yi, Goddess of Fire is a historical drama set in the Joseon dynasty of Korea. In season 1 episode 3, titled Episode 3, tensions between the two factions vying for control of the royal kiln continue to escalate. Jung-yi, who has shown a natural talent for pottery-making, finds herself caught in the middle of this power struggle as she struggles to prove herself as a worthy candidate for the coveted title of Royal Pottery Maker.
As the episode begins, Jung-yi and her mentor Kil-doo are tasked with creating a special piece of pottery for the queen's upcoming birthday. However, their work is interrupted by the arrival of In-jwa, the leader of the rebel faction who seeks to overthrow the current king. In-jwa is there to make a deal with Master Yoon, the head of the royal kiln, but tensions quickly rise between In-jwa and Master Yoon's ally, Heung-bok.
Jung-yi does her best to stay out of the conflict, but she is unwittingly dragged into it when In-jwa takes an interest in her pottery. He offers to buy her work for a high price and promises her a place in his own kiln if she agrees to work for him exclusively. Jung-yi is torn between her desire for financial stability and her loyalty to the royal kiln, for which she has worked so hard.
Meanwhile, the other candidates for the title of Royal Pottery Maker are also feeling the pressure of the power struggle. One candidate, Seok-joo, shows off his skills by creating an exquisite piece of pottery in record time, much to the admiration of the judges. Another candidate, who has been struggling to compete with the others, resorts to stealing the design of Seok-joo's piece in a desperate attempt to impress the judges.
The tension between the two factions comes to a head when In-jwa's men attack the royal kiln, causing chaos and destruction. Jung-yi and Kil-doo barely escape with their lives, but the pots they have been working on are destroyed in the chaos.
In the aftermath of the attack, Jung-yi must decide where her loyalties lie. She knows that working for In-jwa would provide her with financial stability, but at what cost? She also knows that the royal kiln is her true passion, but can she continue to work there in the midst of such danger and uncertainty?
Overall, season 1 episode 3 of Jung-yi, Goddess of Fire is a tense and dramatic installment that sets the stage for the rest of the season. The power struggles and intrigue surrounding the royal kiln are sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as the plot continues to unfold.
