  • May 31, 2019

As a show that has been on air for over two decades, Judge Judy has seen it all. From petty disputes between neighbors to large-scale lawsuits, Judge Judith Sheindlin has presided over thousands of cases and has become one of the most recognizable faces on television. In season 23, episode 193, titled "Vandalism Excuse at its Finest?!; Amazing Townhouse Profit?!", Judge Judy takes on two cases that showcase the range of issues that come across her bench.

In the first case, an aggrieved landlord is suing her former tenant for damages related to vandalism in the apartment. The tenant, a young woman named Ashley, admits that she caused the damage but claims that it was accidental. According to Ashley, she was trying to move a piece of furniture when it accidentally knocked over a vase, which then caused a chain reaction that resulted in several other items being damaged. However, the landlord, a no-nonsense woman named Ms. Johnson, is convinced that Ashley is lying and that the damage was intentional.

As the two sides present their arguments, Judge Judy tries to get to the bottom of what really happened. She questions Ashley about the logistics of the incident and seems skeptical of her story. However, she also takes a hard line with Ms. Johnson, telling her that she needs to provide more evidence to prove that Ashley acted maliciously. In the end, Judge Judy rules in favor of the landlord but only awards her a fraction of what she was asking for, citing a lack of conclusive proof.

In the second case, two acquaintances are caught up in a dispute over a townhouse that they purchased together. The plaintiff, a man named Fred, claims that he put up the majority of the money for the property and that he deserves a larger share of the profits when it is sold. The defendant, a woman named Marcy, argues that the two parties agreed to split the profits equally and that Fred is trying to back out of the deal.

As Fred and Marcy explain their side of the story, Judge Judy tries to get a sense of what the original agreement between the two parties was. She questions them about whether they had a written contract or any other evidence of their agreement. She also asks them about their relationship and whether they were clear about their intentions at the beginning of the partnership.

Throughout the case, Judge Judy shows a lot of frustration with both parties. She is clearly exasperated by their lack of preparation and finds some of their arguments to be nonsensical. However, she ultimately rules in favor of Fred, awarding him a larger share of the profits than Marcy had wanted.

Overall, "Vandalism Excuse at its Finest?!; Amazing Townhouse Profit?!" is a typical episode of Judge Judy. There is drama, tension, and plenty of snappy put-downs from the judge herself. While the cases themselves may not be the most intriguing, Judge Judy's no-nonsense persona continues to draw in viewers year after year.
