[Opening sequence]

[Announcer:] Today on Judge Judy, a mother gets accused of causing an accident in her son's expensive Tesla. Plus, a former couple argues over child support and a broken phone. All this and more on Judge Judy.

[Cut to the courtroom]

[Judge Judy enters the courtroom and takes her seat on the bench]

Judge Judy: Good morning, everyone. Please be seated.

[The bailiff calls the first case]

Bailiff: Your Honor, the first case is Mallory Johnson vs. Rebecca Brown.

Judge Judy: Thank you. Ms. Johnson, you're suing Ms. Brown for damaging your phone and for unpaid child support?

Mallory Johnson: Yes, Your Honor. We used to go out, and we have a child together. But we broke up, and she hasn't been paying her share.

Rebecca Brown: That's not true, Your Honor. I pay what I can, and she's just trying to squeeze me for more money.

Judge Judy: Let me see the evidence.

[They hand over their evidence]

Judge Judy: Ms. Brown, it looks like you owe Ms. Johnson quite a bit of money in child support.

Rebecca Brown: Your Honor, I lost my job a while back, and I've been struggling to make ends meet. I'm doing my best.

Judge Judy: That may be, Ms. Brown, but you still have a responsibility to support your child. I'm ordering you to pay what you owe and to start making regular payments. As for the phone, I'll have to see the evidence to make a decision.

[They show her the evidence of the damaged phone]

Judge Judy: Ms. Brown, you admit to damaging the phone?

Rebecca Brown: Yes, Your Honor, but it was an accident. I dropped it.

Judge Judy: Ms. Johnson, what kind of phone was it?

Mallory Johnson: It was an iPhone X, Your Honor.

Judge Judy: And how much did it cost to replace?

Mallory Johnson: $800, Your Honor.

Judge Judy: And did Ms. Brown offer to pay for it?

Mallory Johnson: No, she didn't, Your Honor.

Judge Judy: Ms. Brown, you damaged Ms. Johnson's property, and you're responsible for making it right. I'm ordering you to pay $800 for the cost of the replacement phone.

[Cut to commercial break]

[Cut back to the courtroom]

Judge Judy: [addressing the audience] Welcome back. Our next case is John Smith vs. his mother, Teresa Smith.

[John Smith and his mother Teresa Smith enter the courtroom]

Judge Judy: Mr. Smith, you're suing your mother for damaging your Tesla and for driving without a license?

John Smith: Yes, Your Honor. My mother took my car out for a joyride, and now it's damaged.

Teresa Smith: It was just a little bump, Your Honor. I didn't mean to damage the car.

Judge Judy: Ms. Smith, do you have a driver's license?

Teresa Smith: No, Your Honor. But I've been driving for years, and I'm a good driver.

Judge Judy: That's not the point, Ms. Smith. Driving without a license is against the law. And as for the damage to the car, you'll have to pay for the repairs.

Teresa Smith: But I can't afford it, Your Honor. I didn't mean to damage the car.

Judge Judy: That may be, Ms. Smith, but you still have to take responsibility for your actions. I'm ordering you to pay for the repairs to your son's car.

[Cut to commercial break]

[Cut back to the courtroom]

Judge Judy: [addressing the audience] Welcome back. Our final case is Sharon Martinez vs. Dave Walker.

[Sharon Martinez and Dave Walker enter the courtroom]

Judge Judy: Ms. Martinez, you're suing Mr. Walker for damaging your property and for assault?

Sharon Martinez: Yes, Your Honor. Mr. Walker came to my house to pick up our child, and he started a fight with me.

Dave Walker: That's not true, Your Honor. She was the one who started the fight.

Judge Judy: Let me see the evidence.

[They show her the evidence]

Judge Judy: Ms. Martinez, it looks like Mr. Walker damaged your phone.

Sharon Martinez: Yes, Your Honor. He ripped it out of my hand and threw it against a wall.

Judge Judy: Mr. Walker, why did you do that?

Dave Walker: I was trying to get her to talk to me. She's been ignoring my calls and messages, and I didn't know what else to do.

Judge Judy: That's not an excuse, Mr. Walker. You damaged her property, and that's unacceptable. As for the assault, I'll have to hear more about what happened.

[They tell their side of the story]

Judge Judy: Ms. Martinez, it sounds like you were the one who started the physical altercation. I can't condone that kind of behavior. However, Mr. Walker, you did damage her property and you're responsible for making it right. I'm ordering you to pay for the cost of the phone.
