Ep 9. Shadow of the Condor

Jonny Quest follows the adventure of the young boy, Jonny, and his friends Hadji, Race Bannon, and Dr. Quest as they travel around the world solving mysteries and fighting evil. In season 1, episode 9 entitled "Shadow of the Condor," the team finds themselves in South America investigating the sudden disappearance of an old friend of Dr. Quest's, Dr. Rosenthal.

As they search, they come across an old temple and inside they find the condor, the rare bird that Dr. Rosenthal was searching for. Suddenly, they hear a loud noise and a shadowy figure appears. The figure, which they assume is the monster Gonzales spoke of, attacks the group. Jonny and Hadji manage to escape, but Dr. Quest and Race are taken by the creature.

Jonny and Hadji head back to Gonzales' house to get help. With Gonzales' assistance, they create a plan to rescue Dr. Quest and Race. They discover that the creature is not actually a monster, but a giant condor that has been terrorizing the area. The bird has taken Dr. Quest and Race to its nest high up on the mountain.

Jonny, Hadji, and Gonzales climb the mountain to reach the nest and save their friends. Once they make it to the top, they find Dr. Quest and Race trapped in a cage. With some quick thinking, Jonny and Hadji manage to distract the giant condor long enough for Race to escape the cage and open the cage door to rescue Dr. Quest.

Once they are safely on the ground, the team realizes that Dr. Rosenthal was actually killed by the giant condor when he tried to capture it. They also discover that the creature had been causing havoc in the area because humans had been destroying its natural habitat by building a dam that flooded its nesting grounds.

The team decides to help the giant condor by moving its nest to a safer location where it can continue to live peacefully without threatening humans. Jonny and the team say goodbye to Gonzales and head back home, realizing that sometimes the things that people perceive as monsters are just misunderstood creatures trying to protect their home.
