Joey season 2 episode 5, "Joey and the House," revolves around Joey's desire to move out of his current apartment and into a house. After much searching, he finally finds the perfect one. However, the owner is not interested in renting it to him because he is an actor. Joey is devastated and decides to take matters into his own hands by pretending to be a sportscaster instead.
He enlists the help of his agent Bobbie, who comes up with a fake resume for him. Bobbie also sets up a meeting between Joey and the owner, Mr. Lutz, at a baseball game. However, things go awry when Joey is put on the spot and can't answer any sports-related questions. Mr. Lutz sees through his act and calls him out on it.
Feeling defeated, Joey confides in his friend Zach, who suggests they throw a party at the house and invite Mr. Lutz. Joey is hesitant at first, but eventually agrees and the party is a success. Mr. Lutz is impressed with the house and Joey's ability to bring people together. He agrees to rent it to him, but only under the condition that he never pretends to be a sportscaster again.
Meanwhile, Alex is struggling with her acting career and decides to take a job as a model. She soon realizes it's not as glamorous as she thought it would be and misses acting. However, she gets a lucky break when a photographer notices her talent for emoting and offers her a role in a commercial.
Gina is also dealing with her own issues, as her boyfriend Dean becomes jealous of her friendship with Joey. She tries to reassure him that there's nothing going on between them, but he remains suspicious. Ultimately, their relationship ends when Dean reveals he's moving to San Francisco.
