Joey season 1 episode 15, titled "Joey and the Assistant," follows Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) as he navigates his new job as a talk show host. Joey's manager, Bobbie (Jennifer Coolidge), hires an assistant for him named Glen (Tim Rhoze). Initially, Joey is enthusiastic about having an assistant and imagines all the ways Glen can make his life easier. However, things quickly go awry when Glen proves to be more of a hindrance than a help.

Joey quickly realizes that Glen is not the greatest assistant. He forgets to do important tasks, like booking guests for the show, and is easily distracted, often leaving Joey to clean up his mess. Joey tries to give Glen the benefit of the doubt and assumes he's just having a rough start, but it becomes clear that Glen is not cut out for the job.

Things come to a head when Glen accidentally deletes the guest list for Joey's upcoming show. Joey is understandably furious and confronts Glen about his incompetence. Glen offers to make it up to Joey by finding the perfect guest to appear on the show, but Joey isn't interested. He decides that he needs to fire Glen and find a new assistant.

Despite Glen's shortcomings, Joey feels guilty about firing him. He confides in his friend and co-worker, Alex (Andrea Anders), about his confliction. Alex tries to assure Joey that firing Glen was the right decision, but Joey can't shake the feeling that he let Glen down.

Meanwhile, Bobbie is unhappy with Joey's decision to fire Glen. She thinks Joey is being too harsh and warns him that he'll never find an assistant as good as Glen. Joey brushes off Bobbie's concerns, insisting that he needs someone who can do the job properly.

In the end, Joey ends up hiring a new assistant named Allison (Karley Scott Collins). She proves to be much more competent than Glen and is able to help Joey run his show smoothly. Joey feels relieved to have someone he can rely on, but he still can't shake the feeling that he let Glen down.

"Joey and the Assistant" explores the difficulties of finding competent help in a high-pressure job. Joey is forced to balance his desire for a competent assistant with his guilt over firing Glen. Ultimately, he learns that sometimes you have to make tough decisions for the good of your career.
