The episode begins with a glimpse into Jane's life a few years after the events of season two. Now a successful writer and a devoted mom, Jane's world is disrupted once again when her estranged husband, Michael, returns. After surviving a gunshot wound at the end of season two, Michael has been in a coma for four years.
