Jane and the Dragon is a Canadian animated television series that follows a young girl, Jane, living in medieval times who dreams of becoming a knight. Together with her friend and fellow knight-in-training, Dragon, Jane embarks on various adventures and quests throughout the kingdom of Kippernium.
In season 1 episode 1, "Tests and Jests," Jane is preparing to take her knighthood test. While she is nervous, she is confident in her abilities and excited to finally become a knight. However, her plans are derailed when her father, the royal chamberlain, informs her that she must pass a series of strenuous tests before she can even attempt the knighthood test.
Jane is dismayed but determined to prove herself. She sets out to complete the tasks, which include cleaning the castle's dirty moat, baking a perfect loaf of bread, and fixing a broken fence. Along the way, she faces several challenges, including a mischievous group of court jesters who play pranks on her, a test of strength against a group of beefy kitchen workers, and a mishap while trying to cross the moat.
Despite these obstacles, Jane perseveres and successfully completes each task. However, she soon realizes that the final challenge is the most difficult one yet: facing her fears and battling her own self-doubt. With the help of Dragon and her mentor, Sir Theodore, Jane learns to believe in herself and ultimately passes the tests with flying colors.
