After trekking through the Canadian wilderness in search of jade, the crew of Jade City finally reach their new claim, "The Wolverine", in season 4 episode 3 of Jade Fever titled "Tip of the Iceberg". The mine gets its name from the ferocious creature that roams the surrounding forest, and it's not long before the crew realizes that mining here won't be easy.
Despite the challenges, Claudia, Robin and their team are eager to get started as they believe The Wolverine is home to some of the best jade in the world. They begin with a series of test holes and soon discover that the land is littered with boulders, some as big as cars, which makes extracting the precious mineral a daunting task. Things get even dicier as the temperatures drop, and the crew has to dig through several feet of solid ice to get to the valuable rock beneath.
Claudia and Robin invest heavily in upgraded machinery and heavy-duty equipment to tackle the boulder problem, and they hire a new crew member named Steve, an experienced miner who has worked in the area before. With Steve's help, Jade City extracts not only jade, but also large amounts of quartz and other minerals from their claim. However, as the season progresses, the team faces setbacks due to weather and equipment failures, and tensions rise as they struggle to keep the operation running smoothly.
The episode also features Tony Lawrence, the mine safety inspector, who visits the mine to make sure everything is up to code. Claudia and Robin are nervous, as Tony's visit could ultimately put their business in danger if he finds any safety violations. Tony is impressed with Jade City's operations and shares some important safety tips with the team, including the importance of documenting work procedures and keeping records of equipment maintenance.
Meanwhile, back in Jade City, the team is working on a new piece of jewelry that they plan to sell at an upcoming trade show. They use a combination of jade and other materials to create a stunning necklace that highlights the beauty of the green stone. Robin, a skilled jeweler, produces a number of prototypes until Claudia is satisfied with the final product.
As the episode comes to an end, Jade City faces its biggest challenge yet as they try to transport a massive boulder to their workshop. The crew has to use a crane to move the boulder, but it's a dangerous process with little margin for error. Will they be successful in bringing the large rock into their shop? Viewers will have to watch "Tip of the Iceberg" to find out.
This episode of Jade Fever showcases the risks and challenges that come with mining for precious stones in a remote location. Despite the difficulties, the crew of Jade City is determined to make their mine successful and to continue producing high-quality jade for years to come.
