Ep 5. THAT ACTUALLY HURT

  • April 9, 2021

Mark Grayson is a normal teenager struggling to balance his high school life with his superhero duties. In the previous episodes, we saw him trying to come to terms with his newly discovered powers as the son of the world-renowned superhero, Omni-Man. However, as he tries to adjust to his new lifestyle, he realizes that being a superhero comes with its own set of challenges.

In episode 5 of Invincible, titled "That Actually Hurt," Mark faces one of his biggest battles yet – against a powerful villain named Battle Beast. Mark's life is already complicated with balancing his personal life and superhero responsibilities, but with the arrival of Battle Beast, things take a turn for the worse.

From the beginning, it becomes apparent that Battle Beast is unlike any villain Mark has previously encountered. He’s an intergalactic warrior with immense strength and abilities to match. His arrival on Earth creates havoc as he moves from one location to another, causing destruction and chaos in his path.

Mark, as the only superhero available to take down this formidable enemy, puts himself on the line to save the people and defeat Battle Beast. He quickly finds out that he is no match for Battle Beast’s raw power and it quickly becomes a desperate struggle for survival.

The fight scenes in this episode are some of the best so far in the series. The animation is on point and brings a level of intensity to the fight scenes that leaves viewers on the edge of their seats. You'll feel Mark’s pain as he takes hit after hit, trying to hold off the relentless attacks of Battle Beast.

In the midst of the battle, we see the other characters dealing with their own struggles. Mark’s father, Omni-Man, is working with the Global Defense Agency to find a way to stop Battle Beast. Frustrated with the lack of progress, he takes matters into his own hands, making him a valuable ally to Mark in the final showdown.

The supporting cast also plays their part in the episode. Atom Eve uses her powers to help the people of the city, Black Samson struggles to deal with his injuries sustained from a previous mission, and Robot faces a moral dilemma.

"That Actually Hurt" provides an interesting insight into the characters' psyche as they face their own personal and professional challenges. The episode not only focuses on Mark's struggle as a superhero, but also explores the impact of such battles on those around him.

One of the standout moments of the episode comes towards the end, where there's a sense of finality to the situation. The climax of the episode leaves viewers stunned and anticipating what's to come in the next episodes.

Overall, episode 5 of Invincible is an exciting and intense episode. With great action and character development, it keeps viewers wanting more. The series has achieved a rare blend of character-driven storytelling, stunning visuals, and superhero action, which has made it one of the most buzzed-about animated shows right now.
