Ben and Josh are brothers who suffer from severe addiction to alcohol and drugs. The episode begins with the brothers in a motel room shooting up heroin. Ben and Josh come from a broken family and their parents were abusive towards them. They turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain, which eventually led to their addiction.
The brothers' addiction has taken a toll on their relationships with family and friends. Their sister, April, has essentially cut them out of her life because she doesn't want to enable their addiction anymore. Their father has also disowned them because of their behavior. The only person left is their mother, who has been enabling their addiction for years.
The intervention team starts by meeting with the brothers' mother, who is emotionally drained and overwhelmed by their addiction. She admits that she has been giving them money for drugs and alcohol. The intervention team tells her that she needs to stop enabling them and that if they want to get better, they need to hit rock bottom.
The next step is to get the brothers to agree to an intervention. They are hesitant at first but eventually agree, and the intervention takes place in a hotel room. The brothers are visibly upset and angry during the intervention. They feel like everyone is against them and that they are being ganged up on.
The intervention team presents a treatment plan to the brothers, which includes going to rehab and getting therapy. The brothers initially resist the plan but eventually agree to go to a 90-day rehab program.
During their stay in rehab, the brothers face many challenges. They struggle with the intense emotions that come with withdrawal and detoxification. Josh, in particular, has a difficult time and runs away from the center. The intervention team has to locate him and convince him to come back.
Meanwhile, Ben starts to make progress and shows signs of improvement. He admits that he needs help and wants to get better. He begins to attend group therapy sessions and takes medication to help him overcome his addiction.
As the 90-day program comes to an end, the intervention team checks in with the brothers' progress. They learn that Ben has relapsed and is using again. The team is disappointed but not surprised since they know that it can be difficult to overcome addiction. They tell Ben that he needs to start over and go back to rehab.
Josh, on the other hand, has made significant progress. He has been sober for several months and has learned how to cope with his emotions in healthy ways. He has also reconnected with his sister, April, who is proud of him for getting better.
The episode ends on a hopeful note. Although Ben has relapsed, he agrees to go back to rehab and has hope that he can overcome his addiction. The intervention team reminds him that recovery is a journey and that it's not always a straight path. They encourage him to keep fighting and to never give up hope.
