Ep 16. Terry & Alissa

Terry & Alissa is the sixteenth episode of the thirteenth season of the Emmy-nominated A&E series, Intervention. In this episode, we meet two different individuals who both suffer from addiction.

Terry is a 53-year-old father of three who has been struggling with alcoholism for over 30 years. His addiction led him to lose his job and ultimately, his family. Alissa, on the other hand, is a 20-year-old college student who developed a heroin addiction when she was still in high school. Her addiction has led her to drop out of college and become homeless.

With the help of interventionist Ken Seeley, Terry and Alissa's family members have come together to stage separate interventions for Terry and Alissa. In Terry's intervention, his daughters confront him about his alcoholism and its negative impact on their family. Terry's ex-wife also appears to express her concern and disappointment with his addiction. Terry initially resists but eventually agrees to go to treatment.

Alissa's intervention is set up in a park where her family and friends have made a "memorial" for her. Each one holds up a sign with a memorable trait or experience they had with her. Alissa is initially defensive and resentful, but as the intervention progresses, she realizes the depth of pain she has caused her loved ones. She also agrees to go to treatment.

Both Terry and Alissa are taken to separate treatment facilities to begin their journey towards recovery. Terry initially finds it hard to open up and is defensive about his drinking, but over time, he makes progress and begins to see the importance of addressing his addiction. Alissa struggles at first and even attempts to leave the facility a few times. However, she eventually begins to participate in therapy and discovers that her addiction is rooted in past trauma.

The episode concludes with a follow-up of Terry and Alissa's progress. Terry completes his treatment and has reconciled with his daughters. He is planning to move closer to them and continue his recovery in a sober living community. Alissa also completes her treatment and has re-enrolled in college. She expresses her gratitude towards her loved ones and says that she is committed to staying sober.

Terry & Alissa is a poignant episode of Intervention that highlights the importance of seeking help for addiction and the power of family support in achieving recovery. Viewers can witness the transformation of two individuals from the depths of addiction to hopeful, optimistic members of society.
