- January 6, 2015
Travis was living the high life before his addiction took control. He was a successful real estate agent and had a beautiful girlfriend, but his addiction to methamphetamine spiraled out of control and quickly took over his life. Now, in season 13 episode 13 of Intervention, Travis finds himself in dire straights and his family has come together to stage an intervention with the hopes of saving him from continuing down this dangerous path.
The episode begins with a look back at Travis' life before he became an addict. We see footage of him and his girlfriend enjoying a fancy meal at a restaurant, laughing and enjoying each other's company. Then, we see footage of Travis presenting a potential client with a million-dollar property, showcasing his success and ambition. But it all came crashing down when he began using methamphetamine to cope with his workload and to stay alert.
The episode then takes us to present day, where Travis is living in a rundown apartment, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and living in squalor. He has lost his job, his girlfriend, and his sense of self-worth, and is now struggling to survive. His family members express their love and concern for him, but they are also frustrated and angry with his choices, which have lead him down such a self-destructive path.
As we get to know Travis, we learn about his troubled past. He was bullied in school and struggled with self-esteem issues. We also learn that addiction runs in his family, and that he has lost two family members to drug overdoses. These factors have contributed to his addiction, and he now battles demons that he can't seem to overcome.
Throughout the episode, we see the family members gather together to plan the intervention. They discuss their personal experiences with Travis, and how they have been affected by his addiction. They share their stories with one another, and it becomes clear that they are all in this together, hoping to save Travis from himself.
The day of the intervention arrives, and Travis is initially resistant to the idea. He doesn't think he has a problem, and is defensive when his family members confront him about his drug use. But eventually, the love and support from his family members begins to wear away at his defenses. They tell him how much they love him, and how much they want him to be healthy and happy again. Eventually, Travis agrees to go to rehab.
The final portion of the episode shows Travis entering rehab and beginning his journey to recovery. We see footage of him in group therapy, learning new coping mechanisms, and reflecting on his past and present. We hear from his family members, who are hopeful that this is the beginning of a new and healthy life for Travis.
