Christina, the first episode of season 11 of the Intervention series, focuses on the battle of a heroin addict named Christina. The episode begins with Christina traveling to Chicago with her boyfriend to attend a funeral. However, instead of paying their respects, both of them find ways to get their hands on heroin. Christina ends up leaving the funeral early and goes on a binge, which forces her boyfriend to take her back to a hotel room, where he eventually finds her slumped over and had overdosed.
The show then moves to one week before Christina’s intervention. As the episode progresses, it is revealed that Christina grew up in a small town in Missouri without her biological father. She has memories of being sexually abused by a family member at a young age, which led her to experiment with drugs in her teenage years. Her mother and stepfather tried to help her by sending her to rehab, but nothing seemed to work.
At the age of 19, Christina moved to Florida to start a new life and make new friends. It was there that she tried heroin for the first time and became addicted. Her addiction caused her to lose custody of her 3-year-old son, which she still struggles to come to terms with.
Christina’s boyfriend, Tony, is also an addict and has been in and out of jail for drug-related crimes. Christina is convinced that Tony is the love of her life, but her family sees him as an enabler and a bad influence on her. They fear that if she doesn't make a change, she will end up in jail or dead.
Christina’s family members and friends tell heartbreaking stories about how her addiction has affected them. They are all supportive of the intervention and hope that it will be the turning point for Christina.
Intervention introduces Brad, the interventionist who meets with Christina's family to help them plan the intervention. Brad urges the family to be honest and open with Christina, but also to be supportive and compassionate. Christina's mother and stepfather reach out to Tony's family, who also agree to participate in the intervention.
On the day of the intervention, Christina is unaware of what will happen. Her family watches her arrive at the hotel where they have gathered and as they begin, Christina becomes immediately defensive. However, as the conversation continues, Christina realizes the impact her addiction has had on her loved ones and becomes emotional.
The intervention ends with Christina agreeing to enter treatment. However, as the episode ends, it is uncertain whether Christina will stay committed to her recovery or relapse. The episode leaves viewers with a sense of hope, but also a reminder of the unpredictable nature of addiction.
Overall, the episode illustrates the often-devastating effects of addiction on both the addict and their loved ones. It highlights the need for support and compassion in the face of addiction, as well as the positive impact that interventions can have on a person's journey towards recovery.
