Ingobernable is a Mexican political thriller television series which premiered on Netflix in 2017. The first season consists of 15 episodes and revolves around the story of Emilia Urquiza, the First Lady of Mexico who finds herself caught in a web of corruption, betrayal, and murder after her husband, the President of Mexico, is killed in a mysterious plane crash.
The first episode of Ingobernable is titled "The Decision" and sets the stage for the rest of the series. The episode begins with Emilia Urquiza (Kate del Castillo) waking up in a hotel room, having spent the night with a man who is not her husband. She quickly leaves and returns to the presidential palace where she is greeted by her husband, President Diego Nava (Erik Hayser).
Diego is getting ready to give a speech about his new project, a plan to launch a satellite that will provide free internet access to all Mexicans. However, Emilia is clearly troubled and distracted, and she tells Diego that she needs to talk to him in private. She takes him to their bedroom and tells him that she wants a divorce.
Diego is taken aback by Emilia's request and tries to convince her to stay. He reminds her that they have a son, Emiliano (Alessio Valentini), and that their divorce would cause a scandal that could damage his presidency. Emilia is firm in her decision, however, and tells Diego that she cannot continue living a lie.
While Diego struggles to come to terms with Emilia's decision, his Chief of Staff, Agustín Aguirre (Fernando Luján), warns him that there is a problem with the satellite project. The company that was contracted to build the satellite, Skycom, has been accused of bribing government officials to win the contract. Diego orders Agustín to investigate the matter and make sure that there is no corruption involved.
Meanwhile, Emilia is dealing with her own problems. She confides in her sister, Ana (Alicia Jaziz), about her decision to leave Diego and tells her that she needs to make sure that Emiliano is safe. Ana assures her that she will take care of Emiliano and that Emilia should focus on herself.
As the day progresses, tensions mount in the presidential palace. Diego discovers that Emilia had an affair and confronts her about it. Emilia admits to the affair but tells Diego that it is not the reason she wants a divorce. She tells him that she cannot be married to a man who is not honest with her and who keeps secrets from her.
The situation is further complicated when Emilia is accused of murder. A man who claims to be her lover is found dead in her hotel room, and Emilia is the prime suspect. She is taken into custody and interrogated by the police, but she maintains her innocence.
The episode ends with Emilia being released from custody after a mysterious phone call to the police clears her of all charges. As she walks out of the police station, she is surrounded by reporters and photographers who ask her if she has anything to say about the murder accusation. Emilia remains silent and walks away, her future uncertain.
Overall, "The Decision" is a thrilling and suspenseful episode that sets the tone for the rest of the series. The complex and multi-layered characters, as well as the political intrigue and corruption, make for a compelling and engaging drama that is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
