He explores the little-known history of Mozambique Island, a town of forgotten grandeur from the Portuguese colonial past, and details how it is obscured in history.

Simon also immerses himself in the local customs and traditions of the Tanzanian people. He meets a group engaged in the fishing industry and learns about the integral part it plays in the community. He also documents the shift in culture from Tanzania to Zanzibar and their historical and contemporary lifestyles.

Along the way, Simon discovers how the history of the colonial past still influences the present of this region. He shares his insights regarding political and economic marginalization, and how it could still change.
