The episode titled "The Chairman" in season 5 of Impractical Jokers is a hilarious ride of pranks and challenges that the Jokers undertake in order to test their limits. In the beginning, the four Jokers - Joe, Sal, Q and Murr - are seen discussing the tasks that they have to perform in order to not lose the challenge. They are informed by their producer that they have to carry out their tasks in the busy streets of New York, making it even more difficult and nerve-wracking.
The first task that the Jokers set out to accomplish is a classic one- they are to pose as employees at a supermarket and make outrageous announcements on the intercom. As expected, the Jokers do not hold back and what follows is chaos as they make announcements like "attention all shoppers, we have a swamp monster on aisle three!" and "Will the owner of the red car please move it as it is blocking a horse trailer?". The reactions of the shoppers are priceless as they look around in confusion, not knowing what is going on.
The next task is the surprise one, with Joe being chosen for it. Joe is informed that he has been selected to be the Chairman of a fake board meeting, and has to carry out his role while the other Jokers are trying to disrupt his meeting. The Jokers get creative in their approach, with Q and Sal posing as incompetent members of the Board, and Murr appearing as a stripper to throw Joe off his game. Joe, however, takes it in stride and keeps on with his task, the other Jokers being unable to crack his composure.
The third task is a challenging one and involves the Jokers taking turns to approach strangers and ask them to tie their shoelaces without kneeling down. Watching the Jokers trying to get their shoelaces tied is hilarious, as people try to understand what is going on before ultimately giving in and tying the Jokers’ shoes. One of the highlights of this task is Sal's reaction to getting his shoelaces tied by a stranger, as he lets out an exasperated scream, but still successfully completes the task.
The fourth task is a bit of a twist on the classic challenge of making someone say what you want them to say. The Jokers take turns telling strangers to finish the sentence "I'm a failure because..." with some of the most bizarre and outlandish responses. Watching people try to come up with a response is amusing, especially when they fail to guess what the correct ending is.
The final task of the episode is a group challenge, with the Jokers having to pose as toy inventors and pitch their wacky ideas to a focus group. What follows is a hilarious exchange between the Jokers and the focus group, as they try to sell their ridiculous ideas like a remote-controlled scratching post for cats or a teddy bear that can babysit your children. Watching the focus group trying to keep a straight face while listening to the Jokers is an entertaining sight.
Overall, the episode titled "The Chairman" is an entertaining episode, but it is not for the faint of heart. The Jokers push the boundaries of their own comfort zones, with some tasks being more challenging and outrageous than others. Watching them try to stay in character while disrupting each other's tasks is a riot, and it is clear that they are having fun while doing it. If you are a fan of Impractical Jokers, then this episode is worth a watch.
