Ep 32. New 'Avengers: Endgame' Teaser Breakdown

  • February 5, 2019

In the 32nd episode of IMDbrief's first season, host Tim Kash breaks down the latest teaser for the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film, 'Avengers: Endgame.' With the film just weeks away from its release, fans are eager for any new information or glimpses they can get of the final chapter in this era of the MCU.

Kash starts by giving a brief overview of what we know about the film's plot so far, which sees the surviving members of the Avengers teaming up to try and undo the damage caused by Thanos at the end of 'Avengers: Infinity War.' He then dives into the teaser itself, analyzing each shot and trying to glean any new insights or clues from them.

One of the first things Kash notes is the color grading of the footage. The teaser is much darker and more muted than previous trailers for the film, which could be a deliberate choice to reflect the more somber tone of the story. He also points out that there are several shots of the Avengers looking defeated and downtrodden, which suggests that they may not be coming out of this unscathed.

Kash then moves on to some of the specific shots in the teaser, including a glimpse of Thor with his new Stormbreaker axe, and Hawkeye's return, now sporting a different costume and persona. He also notes the possible significance of a shot of Tony Stark walking through the Avengers HQ, which appears to have been abandoned and in disrepair.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the teaser for fans is the brief shot of Captain America strapping on his old shield, which had previously been destroyed in 'Captain America: Civil War.' It's unclear exactly how Cap is able to use the shield again, but it's definitely a moment that got fans buzzing.

Kash concludes the breakdown by reminding viewers that with 'Avengers: Endgame,' we're saying goodbye to several beloved characters who have been a part of the MCU for over a decade. The film is sure to be an emotional ride, and this teaser gives us a glimpse of what we can expect when it hits theaters later this month.
