iCarly season 1 episode 4, titled "iLike Jake," follows Carly and her friends as they try to get to know a cute boy named Jake, who recently moved to their school. Carly has a big crush on him, and she wants to make a good impression, so she decides to invite him to come and hang out on their webcast show, iCarly.
Naturally, her friends are all excited about the prospect of meeting Jake, and they start brainstorming ideas for how to make the show extra special. Sam suggests that they do a segment where they prank call a pizza place, while Freddie thinks they should do a skit about a time machine. Carly likes both ideas, but she's not sure that either of them will impress Jake.
Meanwhile, Spencer has his own problems to deal with. He's been commissioned to make a sculpture of a famous astronaut, but he's having trouble getting started. When Carly asks him for advice about how to impress Jake, he tells her to be herself and not worry too much about what other people think.
As the day of the iCarly taping approaches, Carly becomes more and more nervous about meeting Jake. She tries to psych herself up by practicing her lines in the mirror and putting on her favorite outfit, but nothing seems to help. Sam and Freddie are equally excited and nervous about the prospect of meeting Jake, and they all anxiously await his arrival.
When Jake finally shows up, the gang is overjoyed. He's even cuter in person than he is in his profile picture, and they all vie for his attention. Carly tries to be cool and collected around him, but she finds herself tongue-tied and awkward. Sam, as usual, has no filter and says whatever comes to mind, which makes Jake both nervous and intrigued.
Freddie, meanwhile, is trying to impress Jake with his tech skills. He's rigged up a special camera that will allow them to chat with someone all the way across the world, and he's hoping that Jake will be impressed. But things don't go quite as planned, and the camera ends up malfunctioning, leaving Jake unimpressed.
Despite the setbacks, the gang manages to put on a pretty good show. They do a skit about a time machine, which Jake seems to enjoy, and they also prank call a pizza place, which makes everyone laugh. Carly still feels a little awkward around Jake, but she's hopeful that they can become friends.
As the show wraps up, Jake surprises everyone by revealing that he's actually a talented musician. He pulls out his guitar and plays a song that he wrote, which leaves everyone spellbound. Carly is especially impressed, and she starts to see Jake in a new light.
After the show, the gang sits around discussing their favorite parts of the episode. Carly admits that she was nervous around Jake, but she also thinks that he's cute and talented. Sam agrees, but she also thinks that he's a little weird. Freddie is still trying to figure out what went wrong with the camera, but he's mostly happy that he got to meet Jake.
As the gang heads out for the day, Carly feels energized and excited. She's not sure what the future holds for her and Jake, but she's hopeful that they can become friends and maybe even something more. With her friends by her side, anything seems possible.
