In season 1 episode 4 of I Survived..., viewers are taken on a journey of survival with three individuals: Lonnie, Rulon, and Stanley.
Lonnie was a young college student on his way to visit family when his car spun out of control on an icy highway, ultimately sending his vehicle crashing into a deep ravine. Trapped for days with little food and water, Lonnie relied on his survival instincts to keep himself alive. From using his broken cellphone to create a signal for help, to carefully rationing the few resources he had, viewers witness Lonnie's resourcefulness and resilience throughout his tale of survival.
Rulon's story begins on the banks of a remote river where he was hunting with a friend. Suddenly, their small boat capsized leaving them stranded in frigid waters with few supplies. Determined to survive, Rulon and his friend hiked for days through thick forest and dangerous terrain to find help. Throughout his journey, Rulon details the challenges he faced including intense hunger, severe weather conditions, and his eventual brush with death.
In the final tale of survival, viewers are introduced to Stanley, a sole survivor of a plane crash in the mountains of Montana. After the small plane carrying him and several others went down, Stanley was left with only the clothes on his back and a few basic supplies. Braving the harsh winter elements and treacherous terrain, Stanley hiked for days through the mountains in search of rescue. Along the way, viewers get a glimpse into the mental and emotional fortitude it took for Stanley to persevere through his ordeal.
As with each episode of the series, viewers are left inspired by the survivors' strength, courage, and tenacity. Interspersed throughout the episode are interviews with each survivor documenting their personal experiences and how their tales of survival have impacted their lives.
