In the second season of I Shouldn't Be Alive, episode 3 titled "Trapped Under the Ice," viewers are introduced to the harrowing tale of three men who were on a fishing trip in the remote wilderness of Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. The trio was made up of two lifelong friends, Mike and Vernon, and Vernon's brother-in-law, Les.

The men had been ice fishing on Dore Lake when they decided to venture out to a more remote location on the lake. Without proper knowledge of the area, they drove their snowmobiles out onto an area of the lake that was not frozen solid, and all three men fell through the ice.

The severity of the situation quickly became apparent as Mike, who had been driving one of the snowmobiles and was wearing the heaviest clothing, was immediately dragged down into the frigid water. The other two men struggled to keep their heads above water but eventually managed to scramble onto a small area of ice that had not completely given way.

With no ability to call for help and rapidly losing warmth and energy, the men started to brainstorm ways to escape their dire situation. They began trying to break through the ice by at first using their hands and then eventually using a sled as an instrument to crack the ice.

As night began to set, the temperature dropped even further, and the three men had to huddle together in an effort to conserve their body heat. They took turns lying in the middle and pressing their bodies together to share warmth. The men were not equipped with any sort of shelter and their only source of warmth was a single sleeping bag used as a makeshift blanket.

Over the course of the next several days, the men continued to struggle for survival. They endured intense hunger, thirst, and fatigue as well as the emotional toll of not knowing if they would ever be rescued. They knew they had to keep trying to escape, but as their energy reserves dwindled, their desperate situation became more dire.

Through the trials and tribulations of their ordeal, the men had to rely on their ingenuity and resilience to stay alive. They developed a system of breaking up the ice into small chunks and stacking it at the edges to create a makeshift platform. Despite several setbacks, they continued chip away at the ice with a lone hatchet they had with them.

As the days continued to drag on, the men's prospects of surviving the ordeal grew bleaker with each passing moment. But with their very lives on the line, they never stopped trying to escape their icy prison.

I Shouldn't Be Alive season 2 episode 3, "Trapped Under the Ice," is a gripping and emotional true story of survival against some of the harshest conditions imaginable. In this heart-pounding tale, viewers will bear witness to the sheer strength of human spirit and the courage it takes to endure when all seems lost.
