In I Shouldn't Be Alive season 1 episode 7, titled Trapped Under a Boulder, viewers are taken on a harrowing journey deep into the wilderness of Utah's Canyonlands National Park.
The episode follows two experienced mountain climbers, Mike Price and Michael Walker, as they set out on what they believed would be a routine climb up a towering red rock formation known as Washer Woman Arch. However, as they made their way up the steep incline, disaster struck. A boulder the size of a small car broke free from the rock face and came crashing down on top of Mike, pinning him beneath its immense weight.
With no way to move the giant rock, Michael was faced with a life-or-death decision: leave his friend behind and hike for help or stay by Mike's side and hope they would be rescued before it was too late.
As night began to fall and temperatures plummeted, Michael was left with no choice but to stay with his injured friend. Despite only having a small amount of food and water and no shelter from the elements, Michael remained determined to keep Mike alive until they could be rescued.
Over the course of the next five days, Michael battled exhaustion, dehydration, and hunger as he tirelessly worked to keep his friend alive. With no communication devices and no way to signal for help, it seemed as though they were doomed to die slowly in the wilderness.
However, as luck would have it, a group of hikers stumbled upon the two men and were able to summon a rescue team. After days of excruciating pain and uncertainty, Mike was finally freed from the boulder and airlifted to safety. Though he suffered serious injuries, he was able to make a full recovery thanks to the heroic efforts of his friend, Michael.
Trapped Under a Boulder is a gripping and emotional tale of survival against all odds. It showcases the sheer willpower and determination of the human spirit as well as the importance of never giving up, even in the most dire of circumstances. The episode serves as a reminder of the dangers of exploring the great outdoors and the importance of being well-prepared and knowledgeable before embarking on any kind of wilderness adventure.
