Lucy is back with another adventure in the hit 1950s sitcom, I Love Lucy. In season 4, episode 13 titled "California, Here We Come!", Lucy and her husband Ricky go on a road trip to California with their friends Fred and Ethel.
The episode kicks off with the gang packing up their car and hitting the open road. Lucy is excited to go to Hollywood to see some movie stars and hopefully even snag a part in a film herself. However, Ricky is hesitant about the whole thing and worried about how they'll pay for the trip.
As they make their way through the countryside, the group runs into a variety of mishaps and obstacles. They get lost on the winding roads, have trouble finding a decent place to eat, and even have a run-in with a skunk that permeates their car with its foul odor.
Despite the setbacks, the gang finally arrives in California and immediately heads to Hollywood. They take a tour of the movie studios and even get a chance to meet some stars, including William Holden and Eve Arden.
Lucy's dreams of becoming a movie star are soon dashed when she learns that the only way to get an audition is to have an agent. Determined to succeed, Lucy comes up with a plan to impersonate a star's agent and get herself a meeting with a studio head.
As Lucy continues with her plan, Ricky becomes increasingly worried about how they'll pay for their trip back home. But just as he's about to give up, they get a surprise visit from a wealthy relative who offers to pay for their expenses.
In the end, the gang heads back home with memories of their exciting trip to California. Lucy may not have become a Hollywood star, but she's happy knowing that she gave it her all.
Overall, "California, Here We Come!" is a fun and lighthearted episode that highlights the charisma and comedic talent of its cast. It's a classic example of what made I Love Lucy such a beloved TV show in its time, and why it remains a fan favorite even today.
