Lucy tries to return the money discretely by slipping it into a stranger's coat pocket, but when she sees the stranger again, she discovers that he is actually a police officer. She and Ethel decide to confess to their husbands, but Ricky and Fred don't believe that they are capable of stealing.
Determined to clear their names, Lucy and Ethel decide to take a job in a department store and prove to their husbands that they can be trusted. However, their attempts to catch a suspected shoplifter lead to chaos and comedic hijinks.
Meanwhile, Ricky and Fred are getting suspicious of Lucy and Ethel's behavior and decide to investigate on their own. They end up disguising themselves as mannequins in the store, only to be accidentally purchased by a customer.
As the episode unfolds, Lucy and Ethel continue to create mischief in their efforts to clear their names while Ricky and Fred find themselves in a hilarious situation, trying to escape from their new owner.
