Lucy dreams of performing in show business, but Ricky is not too thrilled about the idea. However, when the nearby Theatre Guild announces an amateur talent show with a $100 prize, Lucy convinces her friends and neighbors to team up for a big performance. The only issue is that their rehearsals are causing a major disturbance in their apartment building.
Lucy and her friend Ethel decide to perform a song and dance number, but their husbands Ricky and Fred don't believe they have what it takes to win. To prove them wrong, Lucy and Ethel secretly hire a professional choreographer to help them perfect their routine. Chaos ensues as they try to practice their routine in secret, including sneaking around in disguises and lying to their husbands about their whereabouts.
On the day of the talent show, Lucy and Ethel are nervous but excited to take the stage. Their big performance doesn't go exactly as planned, but they manage to pull off their routine with comedic flair. However, when they try to exit the stage, they get stuck behind a closed curtain and have to improvise a hilarious ending to their performance.
In the end, Lucy and Ethel don't win the talent show, but their husbands are proud of them for trying and putting on a great show. The episode ends with Lucy and Ethel vowing to continue pursuing their dreams in show business.
