Each celebrity gets a chance to work a full shift at an ordinary job, such as a waitress, retail store employee, or gas station attendant. The celebrities are made up to look like the average person, and they are given a script to follow in order to avoid giving away their true identity. If a customer happens to recognize them, the celebrity must deny their fame and continue with the charade.

One memorable episode featured Jessica Simpson working at a computer repair store. She successfully convinced a customer that she was an amateur computer expert and fixed his computer. Another episode featured Jeff Probst working at a city gym doing routine maintenance. A customer recognized him but Jeff was able to maintain the ruse for the rest of his shift.
LeAnn Rimes worked at a country store and made small talk with the customers so as to not give away her identity. Even when a customer asked her to sing, she politely declined and continued with her job. The customers loved her friendly and approachable demeanor.
Ice-T worked as a cashier at a fast-food restaurant, where he pretended to be new to the job and asked for help with the menu. At one point, a customer mentioned that he looked like Ice-T, but he quickly denied it and said he gets that a lot.
Heidi Klum also tried to fool people by being a waitress at a popular restaurant. She was able to fool many customers by using her German accent to her advantage, but one customer recognized her and Heidi had to ask him for his discretion.
The show was a hit with viewers, who enjoyed seeing their favorite celebrities in everyday situations. The celebrities also seemed to enjoy the experience, as it allowed them to interact with fans on a more personal level.
