The genie, Jeannie, is comically mischievous and funny, often causing chaos in Tony's life. The show has been a fan favorite for years and has spawned spin-offs, movies and animated series.
Season 3, episode 13 is titled "My Son, the Genie." The episode begins with Jeannie giving birth to a baby boy genie. Tony is naturally shocked and surprised, not knowing genies could have children. Jeannie explains that genie children are born every hundred years or so and that the child, named T J, is their firstborn. Jeannie is overjoyed at the arrival of their baby but Tony is unsure how to react.
The couple's happiness is short-lived, however, as they realize that T J has disappeared. They search their home and nearby areas but are unable to find their child. Jeannie is beside herself with worry and sorrow while Tony wants to make sure T J is safe but isn't sure where to start.
To try and locate T J, the couple decides to visit the only other genie couple they know, Haji and his wife, the Blue Djinn. Upon arrival, Haji informs Tony and Jeannie that he has heard rumors of a master who captures genies and forces them to grant his every wish. Haji explains that he has intercepted messages from his contacts warning of a new master in the area and fears T J might have been taken.
Tony and Jeannie set out to rescue their son and end up on a wild adventure that takes them to a remote location. Along the way, they encounter a number of dangers including snakes, quicksand and even a formidable dragon. Tony is skeptical about relying too heavily on Jeannie's magic as he wants to ensure they stay hidden from their enemies.
They eventually find themselves in the clutches of the very master they had been trying to avoid. The master, who has a mean streak and a thirst for power, has been capturing genies and forcing them to grant his wishes. Tony and Jeannie are helpless and the situation seems dire, with no plan in sight.
Before all hope seems lost, T J makes his grand entrance, showing off his own magical powers and ultimately saving the day. He has been holding his own in captivity, not wanting to show his powers to his captors. The family is reunited, and they return home triumphantly.
The episode ends on a happy note as Tony and Jeannie are ecstatic about being reunited with their son. Tony has grown closer to T J, and the three discuss their joy and excitement at the thought of raising a genie child.
