The show Hunter follows the adventures of two Los Angeles homicide detectives as they investigate and solve various crimes. In season 1 episode 10, titled "The Shooter," the detectives are called to investigate several murders that seem to be the work of a skilled sniper. The episode begins with a scene of a man sitting in a hotel room with a rifle, watching the streets below through the scope. He takes aim and fires, killing a person walking on the sidewalk. The detectives are called to the scene and are soon joined by the FBI, who take over the investigation due to the nature of the crime.
The detectives, however, continue to work the case on their own, using their own resources and methods. They interview witnesses and gather evidence, trying to find a pattern or a motive for the shootings. The killer seems to be targeting random people from different backgrounds and occupations, making it difficult to pinpoint a motive.
As the investigation progresses, the detectives begin to suspect that the shooter may be a former military sniper, due to the precision of the shots and the use of a specific type of rifle. They contact a former military sniper themselves, who provides them with some valuable insights into the mindset and tactics of a sniper. The detectives use this information to try and predict where the shooter may strike next and setup surveillance in those areas.
Their efforts pay off, and they are able to catch a glimpse of the shooter in action. However, they are unable to catch him or get a clear shot themselves. As the days pass, the shooters continues to strike, seemingly at random.
Then, one day, the detectives receive a tip from an unlikely source – a homeless man who had witnessed one of the shootings. The man provides them with a description of the shooter and the car he was driving. The detectives are able to track down the shooter's vehicle and catch him red-handed, preparing to fire his rifle again.
The shooter, who is revealed to be a disgruntled former military sniper, is taken into custody and confesses to the shootings. He reveals that he had been targeting random people as a way to "take out his frustrations" with society and the government. He is brought to trial, found guilty, and sentenced to life in prison.
Overall, season 1 episode 10 of Hunter, titled "The Shooter," is a gripping and intense episode that explores the mind of a skilled sniper and the lengths that law enforcement will go to in order to catch him. The episode is full of suspense and drama, as the detectives struggle to catch the elusive shooter before he can strike again.
