Humans is a sci-fi drama series produced by AMC that explores the relationship between human beings and artificial intelligence. The show is set in a parallel present where robots known as "Synths" have been developed to perform everyday domestic chores and services.

The story follows the Hawkins family, who purchase a Synth named Anita to help with their household duties. However, as time goes on, they begin to discover that Anita is not like other Synths. She exhibits emotions and thoughts of her own, leading the Hawkins family down a path of discovery and intrigue.

George Millican, played by William Hurt, is a retired scientist who owns an outdated and malfunctioning Synth named Odi. George becomes attached to the old machine and refuses to replace him with a newer model, leading him to seek illegal upgrades for Odi.

Colin Morgan plays Leo, a mysterious young man who is searching for his past and the truth behind his origins. Along the way, he meets a gang of renegade Synths who are also searching for their place in the world.

Gemma Chan stars as Anita, the Hawkins family's Synth who exhibits unusual behavior and emotions. As the story progresses, it is revealed that Anita has a hidden past and a connection to Leo and the group of renegade Synths.

Katherine Parkinson plays Laura, the mother of the Hawkins family, who has conflicting feelings about the presence of a Synth in her home. Her views on artificial intelligence are challenged as she begins to see Anita not as a machine, but as a sentient being.

Neil Maskell plays Peter Drummond, a detective investigating the actions of the Synths and their potential threat to human society. His investigation leads him to the Hawkins family and a confrontation with the group of renegade Synths.

Rebecca Front plays Vera, the head of a company that produces and sells Synths. She is ruthless in her pursuit of profit, leading her to take unethical actions that put both humans and Synths in danger.

Tom Goodman-Hill stars as Joe, the father of the Hawkins family. At first, he is intrigued by the new addition to their home but later becomes suspicious of Anita's true nature.
