How To Ruin Christmas is a romantic comedy series that premiered on Netflix in 2020. Starring Thando Thabethe, Dippy Padi, and Saint Seseli, the show comprises three episodes, each running for approximately 45 minutes. The story revolves around a young woman named Tumi (Thando Thabethe), who is summoned to her family's homestead to celebrate Christmas. Much to her dismay, she finds out that her family has a plan to set her up with an old flame, Sbu (Saint Seseli), hoping that they will reunite and eventually get married. However, Tumi is now a successful businesswoman living in Johannesburg, and she doesn't want to relive her past.

Tumi's mother, Beauty (Busi Lurayi), and her aunt, Aunt Gladys (Yonda Thomas), persistently push her to give Sbu another chance, but Tumi is adamant. She tries to escape the homestead, but her attempts are thwarted by her meddling family.

Meanwhile, Tumi reconnects with her childhood friend, Kudzai (Clementine Mosimane), who finds out about the matchmaking plot and decides to help Tumi avoid Sbu. Together, they embark on a series of misadventures to keep Tumi and Sbu apart.
