They discover that she has been inhaling paint fumes, which has caused significant damage to her brain. Although the team is able to treat her, House's behavior continues to spiral out of control.
In a heart-wrenching scene, House laments the loss of his father while sitting in his office. Wilson enters and tries to comfort him, but House lashes out at him. Wilson walks away in frustration and House is left alone to grapple with his emotions.
In the end, House and Wilson are able to reconcile their differences as House begins to come to terms with his father's death. The young girl is able to recover from her illness and the team is able to move on to their next patient.
